The parliamentary factions failed to reach an agreement concerning election of the First Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, made the above-mentioned statement at the Monday´s briefing, asked whether the First Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine would be elected next week.
"The agreement on this point has not been reached," he stated.
"I suppose that almost every faction will nominate its candidates. There are at least 449 decent people in the session hall," - he stressed. He stated that the Parliament would scrutinize all the proposals, although there is no consensual candidate.
V.Lytvyn stated that the coalition representatives have their own positions, while the members of the opposition have two or three nominees. On Tuesday, the Faction leaders are to meet to discuss several pressing issues.
The Head of the Parliament stated that other personnel matters would be discussed at the session hall after the corresponding resolutions of the factions and the opposition. "The opposition can express its opinion concerning certain issues. The opposition is powerful, it will not let us idle," V.Lytvyn stated.
Under the Standing Orders of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, this parliamentary association is authorized to introduce its motions. "There are three candidates for the position of the opposition leader; when everything is settled, the Standing Orders of The Verkhovna Rada will be implemented, - V.Lytvyn stated. Under the current complicated conditions, the activity of the coalition that will make its proposals will allow adopting the most important state resolutions by the highest standards."
He also stated that a Government Question Hour with the participation of Yurii Boiko, Minister of Fuel and Energy, is scheduled for Friday.
